Fly High Precious Boy

The first time ever we saw your perfect face
We drew your small body into our warm embrace.
You filled us with such an overwhelming pride,
But now we can no longer walk by your side.

You were such a funny, happy, lively child,
Clever, smart and bright – you could also be quite wild!
You always had someone to see, some place to be,
But now sweet boy the time has come to set you free.

You were loved by your family and so many others,
Your very close friends you regarded as your brothers.
You were a special gift we were not allowed to keep,
But our precious boy our love for you was so, so deep.

We tried so very hard to keep you safe,
But now you have gone to another place.
Oh why have you gone? – we keep asking why,
Tears keep falling – for you we will always cry.

The one time you really needed us we were not there,
It was not because we did not care.
But you were a young man and we had to let you go,
Even though we worried about you so.

Ever since you went far away,
We think about you every day.
The pain we feel is very great,
We feel our hearts are going to break.

Now that you are not here and have gone,
We have to find the strength to carry on.
You brought us so much happiness and joy,
Our special, precious, beautiful boy.

In our lives you played such a huge part,
And we will always carry you in our hearts.
So fly high our darling boy, fly high!
We hope you are partying in the sky.

We promise to love you forever and ever,
Until the day we can again be together.
